What is Collaborative Law?
- Collaborative Law puts you in control of fashioning a settlement that you and your spouse/partner can live with.
- It provides the scope to be flexible and imaginative in negotiating a financial settlement, one that takes into account the whole family picture, including the needs of the children.
- Collaborative Law is a practical approach to divorce based on three principles:
- A written agreement not to go to court
- An honest exchange of information by both spouses
- A solution that takes into account the highest priorities of both spouses and their children
The aim of collaborative law is to provide a creative and fair settlement through voluntary financial disclosure and round table meetings between parties and their solicitors. Once an agreement is reached this will be incorporated into a court order that is binding on both spouses.
Each of our members is an independent specialist family lawyer, committed to the collaborative approach. We are independent of each other, so that it is possible for you to instruct one of us and for your spouse to instruct another of our members.
